What are the effects of menopause on the voice?

To what extent voice changes associated with menopause affect professional voice users?

Are female profesional voice users subgroups equally affect by menopause?

Female professional voice users have been required to work despite the fact that their voices might be negatively affected by menopause. This might jeopardise their vocal health and, consequently, their careers.

It is important to revise occupational health & safety in professional voice users during menopause so that:

  1. vocal health can be guaranteed
  2. health costs associated with work absence due to vocal occupational hazards can be reduced
  3. equal working conditions can be guaranteed to all professionals
  4. equal gender opportunities at work-place can be promoted
